Counseling for teachers in Oklahoma can be hard to find! With all the stresses of teaching these days, quality mental health support is more important than ever. Teachers have specific needs when it comes to mental health care. Ideally, they need someone who:
- Understands the unique challenges of the teaching profession
- Takes HealthChoice Insurance
- Has availability outside the school day
- Emphasizes privacy

My name is Chris Neal. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and former educator with over 20 years of teaching experience. While I maintain an office in Corpus Christi, TX, I offer counseling services for teachers throughout Oklahoma.
With increasing challenges placed on teachers these days, I’m available to offer compassionate support. Our work together can help you be your best for your students and family, so you can continue the work you’ve dedicated yourself to.
I am a native Oklahoman, with degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene University. Having grown up the son of an educator, it was only natural that I would also enter the profession. I spent many years as a music educator in public schools and universities before returning to school for my counselor training.
I would love to discuss how I can support you in your life journey. Being an educator is only part of who you are, and I’m here to help you move forward with whatever your current challenges are.
A Counselor who Understands Teachers
While it’s true that your life is about more than teaching, someone with classroom experience may have an important perspective on the challenges you face. I know what it’s like to juggle teaching, lesson planning, parent meetings, dealing with administrators, classroom management and discipline, and the seemingly endless stream of new programs and expectations. It can be exhausting!
Maintaining a personal life while managing the demands of a teaching career can be a big challenge. How do you juggle professional demands with the needs of family, friends, partners, and children? I’m here to help you find a balance.
We can work together to help you manage stress, improve mood, tend to your relationships, and live more fully. Everyone is unique, so your path to contentment will be equally unique, but I’m here to help.

HealthChoice Insurance
I accept HealthChoice insurance. I want you to be able to get the mental health care you need, and this allows us to work together while limiting your out-of-pocket expense as much as possible.
I offer appointments outside the school day to make it possible for you to get the mental health support you need.
Flexible Appointments
A teacher’s schedule can make it difficult to find time for self-care. I offer appointments outside the school day to make it possible for you to get the mental health support you need.
Because I see Oklahoma clients via a secure telehealth platform, you can use a laptop, tablet, or phone to connect. This offers you complete flexibility to set appointments when you’re available, with no travel time required.
Feel free to contact me to discuss scheduling options that work with your busy schedule.
Privacy Matters
No matter the size of the community, educators understand the need to keep certain parts of life private. While our work together is protected by law, I go the extra mile to maintain your privacy.
Because I see Oklahoma clients via a HIPAA-compliant secure telehealth platform, you have much more control over who knows about our work together. There are no accidental meetings in the lobby of the counselor’s office. You simply take your computer, tablet, or laptop to a private location for our appointments.
Is Teletherapy Effective?
I’ll admit I was initially skeptical about teletherapy and how effective it could be. Now, after seeing clients in this manner, I’m convinced it can be quite effective. I also love how convenient it is for you. It also makes quality mental health counseling available to teachers in all communities, regardless of their proximity to a large city.
You can read more about the research on teletherapy here.
